Washington, D.C. — End Citizens United (ECU) today announced it is endorsing state-level candidates for the first time. The grassroots campaign finance reform group is backing nine reformers in six states.
The full list of endorsements includes:
January Contreras, candidate for Arizona Attorney General
Katie Hobbs, candidate for Arizona Secretary of State
Jena Griswold, candidate for Colorado Secretary of State
Deidre DeJear, candidate for Iowa Secretary of State
Jocelyn Benson, candidate for Michigan Secretary of State
Maggie Toulouse Oliver, incumbent candidate for New Mexico Secretary of State
Kathleen Clyde, candidate for Ohio Secretary of State
Steve Dettelbach, candidate for Ohio Attorney General
Zack Space, candidate for Ohio Auditor
“The corrosive and corrupting influence of Big Money in politics is not just a national epidemic; it’s infiltrating state and local politics, too,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “With Washington mired in gridlock and dysfunction, states can serve as a model for reform. These candidates can play pivotal roles in bringing more transparency and accountability to elections, so that government is more responsive to the people. ECU is proud to lend our grassroots support to these reformers and to help them win in November.”
ECU was established in March 2015 to counter the harmful effects of Citizens United and reform our campaign finance system. Its affiliated project, Fight for Reform (FFR), focuses on bringing transparency and accountability to state and local elections around the country. ECU will connect its grassroots activists and donors with these candidates.
