End Citizens United Raises $150,000 in Grassroots Donations for Jon Ossoff

Feb 28, 2017

Since Wednesday’s endorsement, 15,000 of ECU’s grassroots supporters have given an average contribution of $10 to Ossoff’s campaign

End Citizens United (ECU) today announced that its members have given $150,000 in small-dollar donations directly to Jon Ossoff’s campaign since ECU endorsed his candidacy last Wednesday.  Fifteen thousand donors have given an average contribution of $10 to Ossoff’s campaign, which continues to build momentum and generate excitement.  Ossoff is running in a special election to represent Georgia’s 6th Congressional District.

Following the endorsement, which cited Ossoff’s anti-corruption record and strong stance on campaign finance reform, ECU’s grassroots network immediately got to work.

“Jon’s commitment to overturning Citizens United, reforming a broken campaign finance system, and leading the fight against Trump and his corporate special interest allies in Washington is the kind of leadership Georgia families want in Congress.  Our grassroots network is proving just how much energy exists behind his campaign,” said Tiffany Muller, Executive Director of End Citizens United.

ECU was one of the first progressive groups in the country to support Ossoff’s campaign.  The group has 40,000 members in the Atlanta metropolitan area and 70,000 across Georgia.  The grassroots-funded political action committee (PAC) is dedicated to electing members of Congress who, like Ossoff, will fight to overturn Citizens United and pass meaningful campaign finance reform.

End Citizens United was established in March 2015 to counter the disastrous effects of the Citizens United decision and reform our campaign finance system.
