End Citizens United Executive Director Tiffany Muller released the following statement in response to Hillary Clinton’s announcement that she will introduce a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United in her first 30 days in office. The constitutional amendment is part of a larger campaign finance reform plan Clinton introduced today to halt the flow of unlimited, undisclosed special interest money in our elections.
“Hillary Clinton is making meaningful campaign finance reform a top priority. She’ll fight to give power to the American people so we can establish common-sense rules that protect against the undue influence of billionaires and corporate special interests. Her introduction of a constitutional amendment in her first 30 days in office will add to the growing momentum to reverse the disastrous Citizens United ruling and the damage it has caused to our Democracy. End Citizens United will fight for this reform to limit the corrosive and corrupting influence that unlimited and undisclosed special interest spending has on our politics.”
End Citizens United PAC was established in March 2015 to counter the disastrous effects of Citizens United and reform our campaign finance system. To date, more than 1.5 million grassroots members from every state and territory have taken action to support End Citizens United.
