Club for Growth’s recent ad baselessly attacking Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (VA-07) is a flat out lie. Their ad is so astonishingly dishonest that even the fact check it cites says Spanberger hasn’t accepted corporate PAC money, and rated her pledge, “Mostly True,” saying, “We found no money that came directly from corporations.”
We’re not surprised a mega-donor funded super PAC, funded by Nick Freitas benefactor, Richard Uihlein, is afraid of Spanberger’s anti-corruption reforms––so scared they would flat out lie. Here are the facts:
-
Congresswoman Spanberger is part of a new generation of leaders who went to Washington to change the corrupt business as usual.
-
In Congress, she’s followed through. Spanberger led the charge on passing the For the People Act (H.R. 1), a historic bill that takes on corruption in both parties and strengthens ethics laws.
-
She’s fought to protect health coverage for Virginians with pre-existing conditions by standing up to drug companies to lower drug prices.
-
Spanberger does not accept corporate PAC money because she works for the people, not the corporate special interests.
“Abigail Spanberger has kept her promise to Virginians to stand up to Big Money in Washington,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Nick Freitas is letting corporate special interests swoop in to lie on his campaign’s behalf because he will protect the corrupt system to benefit him and his donors. But the facts remain clear. Congresswoman Spanberger has built a people-powered campaign by rejecting corporate PAC money, she supported the passage of the most sweeping anti-corruption bill in a generation, and she’s taken on Big Pharma to fight for Virginians’ healthcare.”
