End Citizens United spokesman Patrick Burgwinkle released the following statement on super PAC spending on behalf of Brigid Harrison and Harrison’s unwillingness to hold herself to the standards she holds her opponents to and call for it to stop spending:
“The shoe’s on the other foot now and Brigid Harrison has failed to step up. Harrison has spent weeks attacking another candidate over super PAC spending. But now that a super PAC is spending to prop up her lagging campaign, she won’t call for it to stop.
“End Citizens United endorsed Amy Kennedy in this race because she’s committed to reforming this broken system. She has the strongest anti-corruption plan. And unlike Brigid Harrison, she’s pledged not to take corporate PAC money and she’s called for a super PAC to stop spending in this primary.
“It’s easy for Brigid Harrison to throw mud. That’s just typical cynical politics. But the least she could do is hold herself to the same standards she holds her opponents to. She should call on this super PAC to stop spending.”
