ICYMI: President of End Citizens United Sounds Alarm on Trump’s Attack on ActBlue Platform During MSNBC Appearance

Apr 25, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC — In yet another brazen and deeply alarming attack on American democracy, Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum yesterday targeting ActBlue—the nation’s leading platform for everyday Americans to make small-dollar donations to political candidates and causes.

As the breaking news unfolded, Tiffany Muller, President of End Citizens United, joined Alicia Menendez on MSNBC Prime to sound the alarm about the grave threat this politically motivated attack poses to our democracy.

“What Trump is trying to do is weaponize the DOJ and the federal government to go after one of the strengths of the Democratic Party’s infrastructure,” Muller said during the interview. “He may have the biggest billionaires, but we have the people with us. This moment is really about empowering people to be involved in democracy, and he wants to shut that down and give even more power to the big billionaire cronies.”

Tiffany Muller is available for additional comment as this story develops. She is uniquely positioned to speak to:

  • ActBlue’s crucial role as a counterbalance to the flood of Big Money from powerful corporations and billionaires seeking to influence our political system.
  • The potential implications for the 2026 midterms and future elections if Trump succeeds in dismantling ActBlue.
  • How the Supreme Court’s disastrous 2010 Citizens United ruling opened the door to an era of unchecked, corrupt influence in federal government—exemplified by Elon Musk’s unprecedented $290 million contribution to support Trump and GOP candidates in the 2024 election.
  • The Republican Party’s opposition to Democrat-led legislation that would close loopholes in our campaign finance system that allow foreign money in U.S. elections—the stated reasoning behind Trump’s memorandum.
