Let America Vote Inducts Loudenbeck, Toney, and Michels Into 2022 Voter Suppression Hall of Shame

Nov 03, 2022

Let America Vote announced the 2022 inductees into its Voter Suppression Hall of Shame, an ongoing list dishonoring the biggest anti-democracy and anti-voting rights politicians. The 2022 inductees are extremist candidates who deny the results of the 2020 election, are threatening to deny the results of the 2022 election, and want to be in a position to overturn the will of the people in the 2024 election. In Wisconsin, Amy Loudenbeck, Eric Toney, and Tim Michels were all inducted into the Voter Suppression Hall of Shame this cycle.

“Amy Loudenbeck, Eric Toney, and Tim Michels are dangerous politicians who pose an extremist threat to our democracy. They’ve proven they refuse to listen to the will of the voters and want to sabotage future elections for themselves and their political allies,” said LAV President Tiffany Muller. “We’re inducting them into our Voter Suppression Hall of Shame for their election denial and extremist policies that will silence the voice of Wisconsinites and restrict the freedom to vote.”

Amy Loudenbeck has refused to say President Biden was legitimately elected and is running to take power over elections.

Eric Toney has run on prosecuting supposed voter fraud, has criticized the bipartisan WEC for its actions in 2020, and has campaigned with extermist election deniers.

Tim Michels said he would consider decertifying the 2020 election and announced plans to overhaul a bipartisan election board which certified the 2020 election. Michels refuses to commit to accepting election results, and boasted that if elected he’d rig things so that “Republicans will never lose another election in Wisconsin after I’m elected governor.”

If elected…

Loudenbeck could:

  • Be given the power to oversee elections and control the administrations of elections, purging voters, and refusing to certify election results.

Toney could:

  • Have Wisconsin support legal cases in favor of restrictive voting laws, reckless voter purges, sham election reviews, and challenge election results.

  • Provide the state legislature with legal opinions that are in support of restricting Wisonsinite’s freedom to vote.

Michels could:

  • Decertify or delay certification of election results to overturn the will of Wisconsin voters.

  • Appoint extremists to take over the bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission, or get rid of the commission altogether.

  • Stack Wisconsin’s Supreme Court with justices who share and support his extreme views around elections and voting.
