End Citizens United (ECU) today announced that it is going on the air in Portland and Bangor with a six-figure ad buy to support Emily Cain.
ECU has endorsed Cain, who is fighting to overturn Citizens United and end the flow of unlimited, undisclosed spending in our elections. Her opponent, Congressman Bruce Poliquin, has a record of supporting the corporate special interest that fund his campaign. He’s also continually voted to protect their ability to spend unlimited amounts of secret money to influence our elections.
“Emily Cain has distinguished herself as a tireless and effective leader for small businesses, students, victims of domestic violence, and working families. She’s fought to level the playing field by pushing for campaign finance reforms like increased disclosure so billionaires and corporate special interests can’t drown out the voices of middle class Mainers,” Tiffany Muller, End Citizens United Executive Director, said. “She’ll continue that work in Congress, where Bruce Poliquin has stood with the Koch Brothers and helped corporate special interests rig the system for their own benefit.”
The buy is for more than $200,000 and includes broadcast and cable in Portland and Bangor. It will run from August 23 through August 29.
End Citizens United PAC was established in March 2015 to counter the disastrous effects of Citizens United and reform our campaign finance system. To date, more than 1.5 million grassroots members from every state and territory have taken action to support End Citizens United.
