End Citizens United is launching a new ad in Maine today calling out Congressman Bruce Poliquin for taking his Wall Street playbook to Washington and putting profits ahead of people.

Poliquin voted to turn Medicare into a voucher system, raising costs for seniors and potentially boosting insurance company profits by billions of dollars.  He’s also tried to make seniors pay more for prescription drugs by voting to reopen the Medicare “prescription drug doughnut hole.”

“Voters in Maine sent Bruce Poliquin to Congress to represent them. Instead, he took his Wall Street playbook to Washington,” said Tiffany Muller, End Citizens United Executive Director.  “He’s putting profits ahead of people, even if it means helping his special interest allies at the expense of Maine seniors.  Middle-class families in Maine want someone to fight for their interests, not a Wall Street banker looking out for the special interests.”

End Citizens United has added $30,000 to the previously announced buy to include digital versions of the ad as well as television.  On television, the $200,000 buy includes broadcast and cable in Portland and Bangor and runs from August 23 through August 29.

Backup for the ad can be viewed here.

After years on Wall Street, Bruce Poliquin knows corporate profits are the name of the game.

Now he’s taking the playbook to Washington.

Poliquin voted for a Medicare voucher scheme, and to force seniors to pay thousands more, potentially boosting insurance company profits by billions.

He’d even force seniors to pay more for prescription drugs.
