The Chinese government calls Daines their ‘Ambassador in Congress’ as Daines prioritizes their needs over Montanans
End Citizens United (ECU) today launched a nearly $1 million television and digital ad campaign exposing Senator Steve Daines, who has taken over $2 million from corporate PACs over the course of his career, for prioritizing corporate special interests while Montanans have paid the price.
The ad highlights how Daines spent six years in China helping to set up and supervise factories that coincided with 4,000 Americans losing their jobs. They also show how Daines voted for the CARES Act, which gave Chinese-owned companies $192 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans while Montana’s small businesses continued to struggle. The Montana Senator has failed to hold President Trump accountable for oversight provisions that Congress passed, and stood by while he gutted key transparency measures.
“Four-thousand Americans lost their jobs and Montana’s small businesses suffered because Steve Daines chose to prioritize corporate special interests,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Instead of putting the needs of Montanans first amid COVID-19, he allowed millions of dollars in loans to Chinese corporations. It’s no wonder that Daines repeatedly sides with Big Money since he’s raked in over $2 million in corporate PAC money over his career. Montanans deserve better than a corporate shill representing them in Congress.”
The television ad runs from October 6 – October 19. The digital ad runs from October 5 – November 3.
Full Script:
Four thousand.
That’s how many jobs we lost while Steve Daines set up American factories in China.
Now, it’s one hundred ninety-two million dollars sent to Chinese corporations by Steve Daines, from our COVID relief plan.
Relief for China, while Montana small businesses suffer? No wonder the Chinese government calls Daines their Ambassador in Congress.
Numbers don’t lie. Daines prioritizes corporate special interests, and Montana workers pay the price.
