Heller has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from Big Money special interests, lacks spine to stand up to mega-donors
The TV ad will air statewide from August 1-August 17
End Citizens United (ECU) today launched two new TV ads in Nevada, exposing Senator Dean Heller for taking money from the pharmaceutical and payday loan industries, and supporting legislation that benefited his corporate donors.
The ads, titled “Follow the Money – Pharma” and “Follow the Money – Payday,” are part of a $2 million ad campaign that includes cable and broadcast TV that will run from August 1 through August 17. The digital ad component will run through the end of August.
“Senator Dean Heller is a top destination for corporate special interests and mega-donors looking to buy influence in the Senate,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “He’s taken money from big money special interests like the pharmaceutical and payday loan industries, and worked for them in the Senate. He has voted for legislation that protects his donors’ interests, and Nevadans are paying the price. We’re looking forward to replacing Senator Spineless with Jacky Rosen, a reformer who will fight to fix – not protect – our rigged system.”
ECU played a pivotal role in Nevada during the 2016 election cycle, spending $2 million dollars to support Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto’s campaign and $150,000 on Jacky Rosen’s congressional campaign. ECU’s polling shows the issue of reform is key for Nevada voters and particularly resonates among Latino and independent voters. The grassroots reform group is again active and engaged in Nevada this election cycle. In August 2017, ECU endorsed Rep. Jacky Rosen’s campaign for U.S. Senate because of her commitment to reforming the rigged system and her support for campaign finance reform legislation.
