New Georgia Poll: Jon Ossoff Leads Senator Perdue in General Election Matchup

Jun 16, 2020

Ossoff leads Perdue 45-44%

Joe Biden leads President trump 48-46%

A new poll of voters in Georgia, commissioned by End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP), shows Jon Ossoff with a slight edge over Senator David Perdue, 45-44 percent. The poll, which was conducted after Ossoff’s primary victory, reveals strong support for cracking down on corruption, including banning congresspeople from owning individual stocks, and expanding vote by mail options.

“Voters want a leader who has the courage to fight for their interests, not a self-serving politician who profits off of global pandemics,” said ECU and LAV President Tiffany Muller. “Georgia voters see Senator Perdue for who he really is: a politician bought and paid for by corporate special interests. Jon Ossoff’s refusal to take a dime of corporate PAC money and his commitment to anti-corruption reforms is striking a chord with voters and it’s going to spell trouble for Senator Perdue as we head towards November.”

After hearing about how Ossoff is rejecting corporate PAC money and pointing out that Perdue has taken over $2.6 million from corporate PACs, Ossoff opens up a nine point lead, 49-40 percent. The poll also found that Perdue only has a 36 percent favorability and Loeffler is at 28 percent. Across the board, there’s strong support for anti-corruption legislation like H.R.1 and making it easier to vote.

PPP surveyed 661 Georgia voters from June 12-13 2020. The margin of error is +/- 3.8%.

End Citizens United endorsed Jon Ossoff in March 2020 given his track record of taking on corruption and increasing transparency in our political system. Ossoff, who rejects donations from corporate PACs, is running a grassroots campaign powered by small donors.

In January 2020, End Citizens United Action Fund released its first annual legislative scorecard that tracked and graded the efforts of every member of Congress on money in politics and government reform issues. Senator David Perdue received an “F” for failing to support common sense legislation that roots out corruption, increases transparency, and strengthens ethics in government.
