All of the ECU-endorsed Senate challenger candidates raised over $1 million in the third fundraising quarter of 2019 while rejecting corporate PAC money
ECU has raised nearly $600,000 for endorsed Senate challenger and open-seat candidates this cycle
FEC filings show that all six ECU-endorsed Senate challenger and open-seat candidates raised more than $1 million in the third fundraising quarter of 2019. All six candidates are building strong grassroots-funded campaigns while rejecting corporate PAC money. Mark Kelly, Sara Gideon, and Theresa Greenfield all outraised their incumbent Republican opponents. End Citizens United has raised and contributed $595,898 dollars to these Senate candidates.
“These six candidates are building strong grassroots campaigns funded by tens of thousands of small-dollar donors,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “By rejecting corporate PAC money, these candidates are leading a movement to bring real change to the Senate and stand up to Mitch McConnell’s corruption. They know that progress on critical issues like making health care and prescription drugs more affordable isn’t possible until we break the hold big money has on Washington. End Citizens United is proud to endorse and support these candidates, and we look forward to helping them win in 2020.”
The ECU-endorsed Senate challenger candidates’ fundraising totals include:
- Cal Cunningham (NC): $1 million
- Sara Gideon (ME): $3.2 million
- Theresa Greenfield (IA): $1.1 million
- MJ Hegar (TX): $1 million
- Mark Kelly (AZ): $5.6 million
- Ben Ray Luján (NM): $1 million
