In just 52 days, Saccone doubled the amount of corporate PAC money he had received over the course of his career
In the most recent filing, Lamb outraises Saccone by 7:1 margin among small-dollar donors
With just seven days until Tuesday’s special election in PA-18, Saccone has doubled down on his cozy relationship with corporate PACs, taking in $27,500 in just 52 days, bringing his career total to $66,000.
“Rick Saccone’s lackluster campaign is relying on special interest money from corporations, secretive outside spending groups, and his party bosses,” said Tiffany Muller, president of ECU. “He’s spent his career manipulating the system to serve himself and his donors in Harrisburg, so it’s not surprising that Conor Lamb is in position for an upset victory in this race. Conor puts people first, and that’s why he’s outraising Saccone, including a 7 to 1 advantage among individual donors.”
Coinciding with End Citizens United’s endorsement in January, Lamb announced he would reject corporate PAC money, making the decision to focus his campaign on Pennsylvania families — not corporate special interests. Since then, ECU members have donated more than $200,000 to his campaign, with an average donation of $8.04. ECU was also the first outside group after the DCCC to go up on air for Lamb with a $250,000 ad buy across TV and digital. A recent ECU poll of the race has Lamb within two points of Saccone.
ECU is a grassroots powered organization giving a voice to millions of Pennsylvanians and Americans who want to unrig the system. The group has more than 3,600 members in PA-18. Unlike Super PACs, ECU is funded entirely by small-dollar donors. The group is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics so Congress focuses on all of us and not only its biggest special interest donors.
