SAVE Act would prohibit American citizens from using standard driver’s license to register to vote
Let America Vote Spokesperson Bawadden Sayed released the following statement slamming Rep. Mike Lawler for voting for the extreme Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act), which would prevent millions of American citizens from easily registering to vote:
“Rep. Lawler just voted to prohibit American citizens from registering to vote with their standard driver’s license. This extreme measure, masquerading as election security, proves he’s more interested in pushing MAGA conspiracy theories than making working families’ lives easier.
“Thankfully, Mondaire Jones understands that our democracy works better when voting rights are protected and expanded, not undermined and restricted. That’s why he supports real pro-democracy, pro-voting rights legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.”
