End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the eve of the release of the “results” of the sham ballot review of Arizona’s free and fair 2020 election:
“Arizonans, like people all across the country, believe everyone should have the freedom to vote and to have their vote counted. But we don’t need to see the results of Arizona’s “audit” to know this sham review of ballots undermines those values and has been nothing but an embarrassing waste of time and taxpayer money. It was a tool of dark money and partisan special interests to promote wild and dangerous conspiracies, raise obscene amounts of money for more efforts like this, and put barriers in place between voters and the ballot box.
“In order to prevent more attacks like this phony review as well as to counter anti-voter bills passed in Arizona and states across the country, the United States Senate must immediately pass the Freedom to Vote Act. It will protect the freedom to vote, end dark money, stop partisan gerrymandering, and set important standards for post-election audits, to protect against more sham efforts that are aimed solely at undermining faith in our elections. Time is running out and the Senate must act quickly to protect the voice and vote of every American and not let outdated processes and procedures stand in the way.”
Earlier this week, Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs joined a call with ECU // LAV urging the U.S. Senate to pass the Freedom to Vote Act to set standards for audits and avoid the type of chaos we saw in Arizona.
