Washington, D.C. — End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed six new candidates running for the House, all of whom are committed to getting Big Money out of politics. The endorsed candidates are: Greg Stanton (AZ-09), J.D. Scholten (IA-04), Antonio Delgado (NY-19), Madeleine Dean (PA-04), Leslie Cockburn (VA-05), and Dan Kohl (WI-06).
“Voters across the country are fed up with politicians who prioritize mega-donors and special interests over their constituents,” said Tiffany Muller, President of End Citizens United. “These candidates are committed to fighting the corrosive influence of Big Money in politics and fixing our broken campaign finance system. We’re proud to endorse these reformers and we look forward to helping them win in November.”
A recent bipartisan poll conducted by the George W. Bush Institute, the University of Pennsylvania’s Biden Center and Freedom House shows that money in politics is one of the top reasons people believe the government does not represent them. Americans’ concerns about money in politics is fueling a wave of candidates in this election who are making money in politics a central issue in their campaigns, as reported in USA Today recently. More than 140 of them – including J.D. Scholten, Antonio Delgado, Leslie Cockburn, and Dan Kohl – are outright rejecting corporate PAC money.
ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so it works for all Americans. ECU connects its endorsed candidates with its grassroots members and its 400,000 small-dollar donors to help ensure they have the resources to win. So far this cycle, ECU members have raised $5 million in small-dollar donations directly for endorsed candidates. ECU continues to elevate campaign finance reform as a national priority and advocates for meaningful legislation.
