The For the People Act (H.R.1/S.1), a critical voting rights and anti-corruption bill that aims to protect voting access and crackdown on corruption is gaining momentum across the country, with New Hampshire voters the latest to reaffirm their commitment to protecting the voting rights of all Americans and ending dark money in politics. A recent poll found that more than 60% of New Hampshire voters support the For the People Act and a significant number of 61% support reforming the filibuster to pass it into law.
Yesterday, Senate Rules Committee Chairwoman Amy Klobuchar held a field hearing in Georgia to investigate the urgency for new voting rights legislation following the passage of restrictive voting bills nationwide that disportionately harm voters of color through barriers to the ballot box and that strip election administration authority from local nonpartisan officials. This nationwide tide of voter restriction bills underscores the need for the Senate to take immediate action on passing the For the People Act.
