End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement after news that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Trump Administration ending the census count even though all American citizens have yet to be included in the counting process:
“Today’s Supreme Court decision to allow the Trump Administration to end the census count before all American households have been accounted for is unconstitutional and undermines our democracy’s ability to provide Americans an equal share in political power. It’s the Trump Administration’s latest attempt to rig the system in favor of the wealthy and well-connected at the expense of everyday Americans, with particular impact on immigrants and communities of color.
“President Trump’s and Senate Republicans’ unprecedented steps to pack the Supreme Court with another radical justice just three weeks until Election Day is further evidence that they will stop at nothing to gain political power for themselves and their corporate donors. This destructive behavior is only energizing the American people to make a change. End Citizens United and Let America Vote will continue to hold these radical Republicans and extremist corporate interests accountable so that all Americans can equally participate in our democracy.”
