End Citizens United Executive Director Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the absence of serious campaign finance reform proposals in the Trump campaign’s so-called ethics proposal.

“With 21 days until the election, Donald Trump still has not released a campaign finance reform plan.  His so-called ethics proposal includes nothing to address the flow of unlimited, undisclosed money in our political system caused by Citizens United. It’s no surprise. After all, Trump has put his campaign into the hands of the extremist billionaire Mercer family, some of the most eager exploiters of the current system. One of his Mercer-inspired hires is David Bossie, the president of the Citizens United organization and the driving force behind the disastrous Supreme Court decision. Trump has also committed to repealing the Johnson Amendment, which would allow mega-donors to use charities and churches as pass-throughs for their unaccountable “dark money.”

“Only one candidate has released a comprehensive plan to overturn Citizens United and end the flow of anonymous dark money. That candidate is Hillary Clinton, and End Citizens United stands with her.”
