End Citizens United Endorses Brynne Kennedy in CA-04

Feb 20, 2020

Kennedy is rejecting corporate PAC and federal lobbyist money

End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Brynne Kennedy for Congress in California’s Fourth Congressional District. Kennedy is proving to Californians that she’ll fight to unrig the system in Washington by rejecting both corporate PAC and federal lobbyist money.

“As an accomplished businesswoman, Brynne Kennedy built a software company from scratch and created thousands of new jobs along the way,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Brynne is rejecting both corporate PAC and federal lobbyist money, so Californians can be sure she is working for them and not corporate special interests. End Citizens United is proud to endorse Brynne Kennedy, and we look forward to helping her win.”

“The outsized influence of corporate special interests has had a corrosive effect on our government’s ability to make progress on problems impacting California families. Tom McClintock has taken tens of thousands of dollars from PG&E’s corporate PAC, so it’s no surprise that he’s been absent in the conversations about how to hold them accountable for the fires they started,” said Brynne Kennedy. “I’m running for Congress to make sure Californians have accountable leadership in Washington, not a representative who’s beholden to corporate special interests. My campaign is rejecting corporate PAC and federal lobbyist money to build a grassroots movement to make that happen.”

bipartisan poll shows that a majority of voters see corruption in the political system as the most serious problem facing the country, especially among independents. The poll also finds that unlimited, undisclosed political contributions and the influence of big money in politics are seen as major problems.

ECU and Let America Vote (LAV) recently merged to combat the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: Big Money and voter suppression. ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so that the government works for all Americans. LAV is building a grassroots effort to fight back against voter suppression and protect every American’s right to vote.

ECU and LAV will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. ECU has more than four million members nationwide, including 10,100 in California’s Fourth Congressional District, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14. In 2018, over 1,000 LAV grassroots volunteers knocked on over 340,000 doors, made 112,000 calls, and sent 341,000 texts to help elect 100 pro-democracy leaders.
