End Citizens United Endorses Jon Hoadley for MI-06

Hoadley is putting Michigan families first by rejecting corporate PAC money

End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Jon Hoadley for Congress in Michigan’s Sixth Congressional District. As a state representative, Hoadley has a strong record of putting his community at the center of decisions and is continuing to do so by rejecting corporate PAC money.

“Jon Hoadley has been a strong advocate for his community and will bring this people-focused leadership on behalf of Southwest Michigan to Congress,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Since he was first elected over thirty years ago, Rep. Fred Upton has been a relic of Washington’s corrupt establishment that puts special interest campaign cash ahead of people. Michigan is ready for new leadership. Jon understands that progress can’t be made on critical issues that are affecting Michigan families, like health care costs and student loan debt, until we get big money out of politics. End Citizens United is proud to endorse Jon Hoadley, and we look forward to helping him win.”

“As a State Representative, I’ve fought for investments in my community, like expanding access to healthcare, good schools, and clean drinking water,” said Jon Hoadley. “Making progress for those priorities is harder when those opposing our values are backed up by a campaign finance system awash in dark money and loose ethics laws. Putting people and communities at the center of our decisions is at the core of who I am as a leader, and it’s why I’m running to serve as U.S. Representative for Michigan’s Sixth Congressional District. In Washington, I will continue to give voice to Michiganders, and I know that important work can’t be done until we reform our democracy. Rooting out government corruption is a priority, and that’s exactly what I plan to continue doing once in Congress.”

During the 2018 election cycle, ECU spearheaded the movement among candidates to forgo corporate PAC money in their campaigns. In the 116th Congress, nearly 60 members are refusing to take corporate PAC money, which includes 27 members of the House freshman class who flipped their district.

ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington D.C. so government works for all Americans. The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 6,700 in Michigan’s Sixth Congressional District, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
